The growth of tumours in T-cell deprived mice and their response to treatment with Corynebacterium parvum.

چکیده
Severe depletion of thym us-derived lymphocytes does not reduce, and may significantly increase, the resistance of mice to syngeneic tumours, although it grossly impairs their ability to reject alio transplants. Injection of killed C. parvum causes further inhibition of tum our growth in T-cell deprived mice to an extent comparable to th a t resulting from the same dose of G. parvum in normal mice. This appears to lend support to the hypothesis th a t the antitum our effect of C. parvum depends prim arily on macrophage stimulation.

Effect of Corynebacterium parvum treatment on the growth of Salmonella enteritidis in mice.
The growth of Salmonella enteritidis in mice pretreated with 700 mug of killed Corynebacterium parvum was less than that seen in normal CD-1 mice. In treated mice, there was an early increased inactivation of the blood, liver, and spleen bacterial populations, followed by a prolonged period of slow but continuous bacterial growth. The treated mice failed to develop significant delayed hypersens...
متن کاملThe adjuvant effect of Corynebacterium parvum: T-cell dependence of macrophage activation
Splenic and peritoneal macrophages from mice treated with Corynebacterium parvum enhanced the antibody response in vitro of normal nonadherent spleen cells to SRBC, but not to DNP-POL. This enhancement was dependent on the dose and time of administration of C. parvum and could be abrogated by pretreatment with carrageenan. Macrophages from T-cell-depleted mice failed to enhance the response, bu...
متن کاملLong Acting Propranolol and HSP-70 Rich Tumor Lysate Reduce Tumor Growth and Enhance Immune Response against Fibrosarcoma in Balb/c Mice
Background: Noradrenaline (NA), the principal neurotransmitter released from sympathetic nerve terminals, influences T-cell maturation, not only directly in developing T cells, but also indirectly, by acting on the thymic nonlymphoid cells. In vitro and in vivo studies have demonstrated the anti-proliferative, anti-migratory, antiangiogenic and cytotoxic properties of propranolol, β-AR blocker,...
متن کاملImmunological enhancement of leukemia L1210 by Corynebacterium parvum in allogeneic mice.
The effect of Corynebacterium parvum on the immune response of C57BL/6 mice (H-2b) to the allogeneic leukemia L1210 (H-2d) was investigated. Mice were either left untreated or given C. parvum i.v. or i.p. in various dosages. Seven days later they were challenged with 2.5 to 10 X 10(6) live L1210 cells i.p. Control animals almost always rejected the challenge. In contrast, most mice pretreated w...
متن کاملInduction of spleen cell growth and DNA polymerase activity by Corynebacterium parvum.
Corynebacterium parvum induces rapid proliferation of spleen cells with concomitant rapid increases in DNA synthesis as measured by [3H]thymidine uptake and increase in DNA polymerase activity. Cell number increased exponentially over 10 days. DNA polymerase activity increased 8-fold after C. parvum stimulation. The rapidity of response indicated a population response to the stimulus, and the d...
